About Lumberg

Lumberg Netherlands has specialized in importing, distributing, and developing connectivity products during its 51-year history, focusing on connector connections for low-voltage signals or data transfers.

In addition to distributing standard stock products from leading suppliers, developing and producing customer-specific solutions is a part of our collaborative strategy.

History

Lumberg Netherlands was established in 1972 as a subsidiary of the manufacturer Lumberg. This factory was founded in 1933 by Erich and Karl Lumberg. From the outset, the company has been based in the Westphalian town of Schalksmühle in the Sauerland region of Germany.

In the early days, Lumberg focused on manufacturing various metal parts for diverse applications. Over time, the company shifted its focus increasingly towards the production of antennas and components for wireless sets.

Expansion

Large market shares were obtained through the production of tube bases for television sets, relay bases for switch cabinets, and banana plugs. Lumberg has continuously expanded throughout its over 80-year history.

Factory

The factory in Cloppenburg was established in 1971. In addition to the factory on Halver Strasse, a second factory was founded in the industrial area of Ramsloh in 1988. Shortly after German reunification, another factory was built in Hoyerswerda. Not only was the national distribution network greatly expanded in the 1970s, but Lumberg also opened branches in other European countries.

Branches

Lumberg Netherlands was opened in 1972, followed by France and the United Kingdom in 1976. In the mid-1980s, Lumberg also established a distribution subsidiary in the United States. The Asian market has been served by the Singapore branch since the late 1980s. In 2001, Lumberg began production of mobile phone components and cable assemblies for the Chinese market from Shanghai.

Relocation

After 10 years, the Eendendreef location proved too small, and a new office building with sufficient warehouse space was constructed on the industrial side of Bleiswijk. To this day, Lumberg Netherlands is still located at this site between the cities of Rotterdam and The Hague.

Management Buy-out

In 2008, Lumberg Netherlands underwent a management buy-out, becoming an independent entity. Like Lumberg Germany, the Netherlands operates as a family business. It began with a very small inventory consisting only of the most common items. This inventory was stored in the garage of the then-director Jacques Gimberg's private residence.

Present Day

As of 2023, Lumberg Netherlands remains a family business, with Jean-Paul Gimberg taking over the helm from his father. Throughout the years, Lumberg Netherlands has adapted to the modern business environment. With a solid foundation of experience and expertise, the company successfully transitioned to a contemporary and innovative business model.

Lumberg Netherlands has invested in advanced technologies and digital solutions to maximize efficiency and productivity. We have a strong focus on sustainability, incorporating green initiatives and environmentally friendly practices into our operations. Despite our long history, Lumberg Netherlands serves as an example of a modern company that remains relevant in an ever-changing business world.
